Sculptra

Sculptra

Sculptra is a dermal filler that stimulates collagen production. It’s used to restore volume and improve skin texture in areas like the cheeks, temples and laugh lines that naturally deflate as we age. The results develop gradually over several months and can last up to two years. The procedure is minimally invasive with minimal downtime. Safety is crucial, so always consult a qualified medical professional for Sculptra treatments.
Our favorite place to inject sculptra is in the buttocks. By injecting Sculptra into the buttocks, it creates a non-surgical lift and enhancement. It stimulates collagen production, gradually improving volume and shape over several months. Results are varied depending on the look the patient desires, and treatments can be done as early as 3 months apart to achieve ideal results. With minimal downtime and discomfort during the procedure, Sculptra is one of our favorite treatments!

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY SCULPTRA AESTHETIC?
It is a polylactic acid-based semi-permanent filler injected to treat facial lipoatrophy brought on by aging or the adverse effects of some medications. Polylactic acid, often known as Sculptra®, is a synthetic polymer immunologically inert, biocompatible and has been used for 20 years with a safety track record.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It thickens the skin by first having a bulking effect and then, over several weeks, stimulating fibroblasts to produce more collagen (months). The thickness of the skin will rise as a result, but the usual color and texture will remain.
WHAT IS SCULPTRA® USED FOR?

Sculptra is used to treat:

  • Facial lipoatrophy* and volume loss
  • Scars and wrinkles
  • Fine lines, skin creases, and furrows
  • To treat facial lipoatrophy related to HIV infection and HAART
HOW IS SCULPTRA® ADMINISTERED?
Poly-L-lactic acid is mixed with a local anesthetic and injected into the skin’s dermis. The treatment is administered every 2 weeks for a minimum of 3 sessions.
HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT TAKE? IS IT PAINFUL?
Depending on the region being treated, it can take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. A local anesthetic is used with the poly-L-lactic acid filler to numb the treated area. Only the needle pricks will cause agony for the sufferer. Before administering the therapy, the skin will be numbed with an ice pack.
WHAT MUST I DO AFTER THE INJECTIONS?
Your dermatologist will provide you with detailed aftercare advice. For several days following treatment, you will need to massage the treated regions briefly each night.
HOW LONG WILL THE FILLING EFFECTS LAST?
Due to the injected volume, a change in the facial contour is visible right once, but this diminishes 48 hours after the fluid from the injected product is absorbed. Following treatment, volume increases gradually for 4 to 6 weeks, producing progressive and natural results. Up to two years, after it takes effect, a “top-up” may be necessary.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Injecting Sculptra is a treatment that is generally safe. Some possible adverse effects are temporary and connected to injections. These could include bruising, swelling, bruising, soreness, and localized redness. Rarely, skin thickening and nodules have been observed; however, this is generally attributed to improper dilution methods. After therapy, massaging the injection site can lessen the likelihood that these nodules will develop.
IS THE VOLUME-ENHANCING EFFECT OF SCULPTRA® PERMANENT?

No, even though it has been demonstrated that the impact of poly-L-lactic acid filler injections lasts for longer than two years, they are not irreversible, and “top-up” injections may be required.
