Kybella

Kybella

Kybella is an injectable treatment that targets and reduces submental fat, commonly known as a double chin. It uses deoxycholic acid to break down fat cells, creating a more defined jawline. The procedure is non-surgical, with minimal downtime, and results develop gradually. Kybella is generally safe and effective when administered by trained professionals, but multiple sessions may be needed for optimal results. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will help sustain the effects.

WHAT IS KYBELLA®?
Adults with moderate to severe submental fat, popularly called a “double chin,” can benefit from using KYBELLA®, a prescription medication. For the treatment of fat outside the submental region or in children younger than 18 years old, KYBELLAsafety ®’s efficacy is unclear.
WHO SHOULD NOT RECEIVE KYBELLA®?
Do not receive KYBELLA® if you have an infection in the treatment area.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF KYBELLA®?

KYBELLA® can cause serious side effects, including

  • Trouble swallowing
Nerve injury in the jaw (which can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness)
  • Issues with the injection site, such as a hematoma or bruising, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), damage, and tissue cell death (necrosis) close to the injection site if KYBELLA® was accidentally injected there, or damage to an artery or vein. Call your doctor if any of the following occur:
    • You start to have facial muscle weakness
    • Your grin becomes uneven
    • You have trouble swallowing, or any of your existing symptoms worsen
    • You develop bleeding or open sores in the treated area

Swelling, discomfort, numbness, redness, and patches of hardness in the treatment area are the most typical side effects of KYBELLA®.

Not all of KYBELLApotential ®’s adverse effects are listed here. For medical advice about side effects, contact your doctor.

HOW IS KYBELLA® ADMINISTERED?
Only a healthcare professional who has received KYBELLA® training may provide treatment. You will have several little injections beneath your chin during each treatment, which takes 15 to 20 minutes. Your desired profile and the quantity of fat under your chin will determine the precise number of injections.
HOW MANY KYBELLA® TREATMENT SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
The number of treatments differs from patient to patient because everyone’s chin profile is unique. Based on the volume and distribution of your submental fat as well as your treatment objectives, your healthcare professional will assist you in determining the number of treatment sessions you require. You should also not receive more than six KYBELLA® treatments; each session is spaced at least one month apart. 59% of participants in clinical studies underwent 6 treatments.
WILL I NEED TIME TO RECOVER?
You may experience mild swelling, bruising, or numbness beneath your chin following KYBELLA® therapy. Be sure to let your doctor know if you experience any side effects from injection sites: bruises, hair loss, open sores (ulcers), damage to surrounding tissue, necrosis of tissue cells, an uneven smile, facial muscle weakness, or difficulty swallowing. If you get open sores or are discharged from the treatment location, contact your healthcare practitioner immediately.
